In this very important week, Holy Week, we come face to face with the high spot of Jesus's triumphant ride into Jerusalem and the lowest spot of all, Good Friday, which encapsulated His total rejection and isolation.
The day we have come to know as' Maundy Thursday' was important in establishing the sacrament of Holy Communion, based on His last meeting with all His disciples. This meal was His bequest to His followers. However, in it He revealed His knowledge of what was to come; the betrayal by Judas, the denial by Peter and death on the cross.
So Jesus went forward to the horrendous suffering of Good Friday, knowing what to expect. So we can know, that whatever curved ball life throws at us, Jesus, our Lord, fully understands and holds out the promise of the resurrection.
Thanks be to God.
