I am not a member of the Anglican Communion, but I watched some of the installation of Sarah Mullally as the Archbishop of Canterbury. I found it inspirational. Cathedrals can be cold and formal, caught up in the rigidity of ritual. Canterbury this week was anything but. Sarah's broad grin radiated the warmth of her personality and her deep joy in accepting the challenging role to which she is called. The service incorporated multi-national appeal and joy in worship.
In a world which is undoubtedly troubled, it was good to feel the strength of a gathering of people of good will, both those of faith and those without. May God guide the new Archbishop as she seeks to further His purpose on earth.
