God of peace, thank you for the many brave people who take active steps to bring succour to innocent people who have become victims in war zones. These ordinary people show commitment to service by taking their medical or humanitarian skills into areas of conflict. They are often the only help and comfort offered to people in dire need. They themselves can easily be targets as the aggressors seek to shorten the wars.

Provide protection for all people of goodwill and the agencies through which they work. Breathe common decency into the hearts of those whose enthusiasm for their own views might lead them into unspeakable cruelty.
