Life often proceeds in a very predictable and routine fashion. Then events conspire to introduce change. One well-known hymn asserts, 'Change and decay in all around I see,' and sets this against the consistency and unchanging nature of God. However, change is not always negative. Our bodies' response to infection is to fight it and through this fight immunity to diseases has been established. Changes in circumstances can result in a new perspective on life and present new opportunities.

May we always be ready to accept the challenge of change and to develop new strengths as a result.
