Compassionate God, as we consider the trials that Jesus faced in the wilderness, we ask your help for whatever trials we may face in our daily lives. We do not know what the future holds, but we know that you are with us and will not ask more of us than we are able to give.

Help us to be grateful for each new day and to seek our its promise. Help us to shift our focus from ourselves and to see the world beyond, with all its problems and opportunities. Show us your purpose for each one of us, and inspire us with the strength to fulfil our potential.
