As today is Candlemas, we give thanks for the faithful witness of Mary and Joseph in presenting their first-born son, Jesus, at the temple, as was required by the religious laws of the time. We thank you for their brave obedience to God's will, in accepting His choice for their lives. We are pleased to acknowledge the response of Simeon, who was inspired by the Holy Spirit to recognise that he held the Messiah in his arms. His recognition was captured by the famous statement, 'Lord now lettest Thou Thy servant depart in peace, according to Thy word.'

May we follow the example of Mary, Joseph and Simeon and offer our faithful obedience to Your will in our lives and receive assurance of Your peace.
