The Church of the Living Stream is involved in an exciting new development. On 29 June, at 10.30am, we will join in our first on-line service of Holy Communion. Our services are already interactive and involve us in sharing hymns, readings, prayers and ideas. We plan to enhance our fellowship by tailoring our Communion service to the opportunities presented by our zoom format.
Our approach has given us the opportunity to meet in a new way. We no longer look at the back of people’s heads but see each other face to face. This means we make eye contact and learn more about how we are reacting to worship week by week. Extending this activity to Communion seems like a natural progression.
We have been invited to participate in a study into on-line Communion being conducted by the University of Roehampton. It will be good to learn from their experiences of other on-line congregations and with them to forge our own unique approach.
